Mack Karbon

Associate Mack Karbon (they/them) is a civil rights attorney who is profoundly committed to protecting and advancing employees’ rights.  Their passion for workplace justice and litigation experience makes Mack an outstanding advocate for their clients.  Prior to joining Alan Lescht and Associates, P.C., Mack served as the Employment Law Fellow at a boutique civil rights and employment litigation firm in Washington, D.C.

Mack obtained their law degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law in 2023, where they worked as a Senior Editor for the Washington University Jurisprudence Review, taught an undergraduate course on religion and the Constitution, and received the Stuart L. Oelbaum Public Interest Award for exemplary commitment to public service.  Mack’s journal article entitled “Free Exercise in the Covid Era: The New Court’s Kantian Approach to Religion,” was selected for publication in Volume 15 of the Washington University Jurisprudence Review.

During law school, Mack worked as a judicial extern for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and interned in the Civil Rights Division, Employment Litigation Section of the U.S. Department of Justice.  They also spent a semester at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri, assisting in public corruption and white-collar prosecution.

Prior to law school, Mack was a professional jazz vibraphonist in Miami, Florida, and spent their gap year teaching songwriting and poetry to incarcerated individuals in South Florida.

Mack’s experience as a nonbinary person has led to their developing a particular interest in litigation related to queer rights and gender affirming care.  In their spare time, Mack serves as a volunteer attorney with the Name & Gender Change Clinic at Whitman Walker Health, where they help trans clients obtain legal identification that reflects their chosen identities.
