Today, ASIS International posted an article titled, “Government Security Professionals Grapple with Following Procedure Amid DOGE Demands.” Journalist Megan Gates reported on concerns about DOGE’s access to classified information and the possibility of retaliation against federal employees who refuse to grant access to individuals without the required clearances. Managing Shareholder Alan Lescht explained that the law protects employees from retaliation for refusing to unlawfully disclose classified information:
“If a federal employee is asked to do something they believe to be unlawful and they decline and they are reprimanded or punished, then that federal employee has a right to file a claim under the Whistleblower Protection Act,” Lescht says.
